This is a free, open source eCommerce shopping cart developed by Varian. The version currently out there has been having a lot of positive reviews. Earlier versions had quite a few bugs to be worked out, but the newest version seems to operate smoothly. Magento is very flexible and is easy to work with. Changing layouts, colors and fonts is easy to do. The fact that it has two different sections for both small business and enterprise business is a plus. I am nowhere near the Enterprise edition as of yet.
The Small Business Turnkey or Magento Go is the option for me that I choose to use.
The prices are great per month and I get a good many different features for the money I pay. Add to this the various hosting and deployed solutions and I am ready for business. This is a fully featured shopping cart with many features such as Sell In Multiple Currencies, Upload custom logo and images, Drag and Drop layout Customization. Other features that I like include PayPal Express Checkout, Tax reports, PAYBOX, free shipping, SEO. Call center and Stock Availability. As I stated before, this is a full functioning shopping cart.While I am no computer nerd, I found Magento easy to work with. I chose to use the hosting services that are attached to the Magento Go and found them reliable and easy to use. I want reliability and Magento Go offers me that very reliability. Adding to that is the availability of themes and templates to give my online site what it needs to be competitive. Using these solutions, I did not have to go hunt separately for quality hosting, template and creation services, they are all right there.
While I understand that not everyone wants to go this route, for a small business, this can often be the better route to take than to do everything separately. It is cost effective and my business is showing the results of using Magento Go. My small business has profited by using Magento Go. I would honestly recommend this to other small business owners, especially if you want reliability, cost effectiveness and attractive design.
